Wholesale application

Apply to buy at trade prices — $2.85 a print instead of $6.00, with a $100 minimum order. Sending this does not open an account. Somebody reads it and decides, and if approved you are emailed a link to set up a sign-in. Two separate decisions are made: the trade price, and whether sales tax is charged. You can be approved for one and not the other.

Your business

Legal business name The registered name of the business, exactly as it appears on your paperwork. If you upload a resale certificate, this has to match the name on it. A mismatch is the commonest reason a tax exemption is refused, even when everything else is in order.

Trading name, if different The name over the door, if it differs from the registered one. Leave it empty if they are the same. This is the name used when talking to you. The legal name above is the one checked against certificates.

Your name

Email Where the decision on this application is sent. If you are approved, the invitation link to set up your sign-in goes to this address, and it becomes the username for the account. Get it wrong and there is no way to reach you.

Resale certificate

Optional. A valid certificate means we do not charge you sales tax, because the tax becomes yours to collect when you resell. Leaving it empty does not affect the trade price at all — you still pay $2.85 a print, with sales tax added. This section only decides the tax. A business licence or a permit number alone is not a resale certificate.

Certificate document The certificate itself, as a PDF or a photograph. In California this is usually a CDTFA-230. It is stored outside the public part of the site and can only be opened by staff — it is never served to the internet. Somebody reads it before any exemption is granted; uploading it does not grant anything on its own.

Property the certificate covers What the certificate says you buy for resale — for example black-and-white alphabet photographs. A certificate that covers furniture does not cover photographs. This is one of the things checked before an exemption is granted, so describe what the document actually says rather than what you intend to buy.

Seller's permit number The permit number printed on your certificate. It is checked against the state’s own public lookup before any exemption is granted. A number that does not verify means tax keeps being charged.

Signed by The name of the person who signed the certificate. An unsigned certificate is not valid, so this is part of what makes the document usable.

Date signed The date on the signature. Exemptions are not permanent — an approved one carries a review date, after which the certificate has to be looked at again.

Terms

Wholesale orders are paid up front and all sales are final. We will always put right anything damaged in transit, defective, or sent in error. Minimum order $100. Shipping is added at cost.

If it is approved you are emailed a link to set up a sign-in, and only then can you place a trade order. Until then you can still buy at ordinary retail prices like anybody else.
