One separate 4 × 6 inch black-and-white photographic print per letter. A five-letter word arrives as five loose prints, not as one picture of a word. They are yours to arrange, frame, or give away individually.

Every letter is a photograph of a found form — a sign, a machine part, a piece of architecture that happens to read as a letter. Nothing is drawn, rendered or generated. The photographs are never cropped or retouched to make a letter fit.

We draw a different photograph for each position where we can. Some letters have more photographs than others, so a word using the same scarce letter three times may repeat one. The composer shows you exactly what you will receive before you buy.

Two approaches work well: one 4 × 6 frame per letter arranged on a wall, or a single multi-opening frame with the letters matted evenly. We keep specific recommendations on the frames page.

Checkout shows a dated window before you pay, calculated for your address rather than an average. Most orders travel USPS Ground Advantage; Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express are offered at checkout if you need it sooner. You receive a tracking number when the parcel is posted.

We'll always make it right if something goes wrong — a damaged print, the wrong word, a parcel that never arrives. Send a note to [email protected] (include a pic of the damage or error where applicable) and we'll send a replacement, free. We don't offer returns or exchanges for a change of mind.
